The Prime Minister revealed that the coalition parties agreed to support the 2026 Budget Act, while the entertainment complex will be discussed before the parliament opens.
On May 20, 2025, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, gave an interview after the cabinet meeting that she had talked with the coalition parties about the consideration of the 2026 Budget Act draft, which will be considered on May 28. All parties agreed. The principle was already set from the beginning. When asked if there would be an entertainment complex when the parliament opens, the Prime Minister said that right now we are talking about the budget first, but before the parliament opens, we will talk about this issue.
When asked about the progress of the entertainment complex after 2 large businessmen came to talk, is this a good sign? Ms. Paethongtarn said that the reason they showed interest was because Thailand is not very far from Japan, and Japan has already started to have a clear plan to use the World Expo area in Osaka to make an entertainment complex that will be completed in 5 years. They saw that we were pushing this issue and saw it as an opportunity, so they wanted to come and see what would happen.
The Prime Minister also talked about MPs switching parties, saying that It depends on willingness. The political paths that have been encountered are based on each person’s belief that at that time, they feel that they belong to a party that meets their needs, so they will join that party. It’s like working in an organization, if it’s right for you, you stay, if it’s not, you change to a new place. It’s the same with the media, which can change affiliations as well. In fact, if you’re in another party and want to return to the original party, or leave the original party to another party, that’s a personal matter. But it depends on whether the party will accept you or not.
